Ogden Residents Invited to Join Townwide Decorating Contest for America’s 250th Anniversary

In celebration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the Town of Ogden is inviting residents to participate in a special Townwide Decorating Contest. This initiative was designed to showcase creativity, patriotism, and community spirit leading up to America 250 at Pineway Ponds Park on Thursday, July 2.

Participants are encouraged to decorate their homes, yards, or porches in honor of America’s semiquincentennial. From classic red, white, and blue themes to historically inspired designs, residents can let their imagination shine while helping to create a festive atmosphere throughout the community. Local businesses are also encouraged to take part in the contest.

“This contest is a fun and festive way to build community pride as we count down to the official 250th anniversary of our nation,” said Ogden Town Supervisor Mike Zale. “I encourage all of our residents and local businesses to join in and show off their creativity.”

A selection committee, including the Town and Village Historians, the Town Supervisor, the Parks and Recreation Director, and the Mayor of Spencerport, will visit participating properties during the week of June 15 to evaluate the displays. Decorations will be judged by drive-by or walk-by and must be clearly visible from the road.

Four awards will be presented in the following categories:

Most Patriotic: For the display that best embodies U.S. pride and the 250th anniversary theme.

Most Creative: For the most unique and imaginative design.

Community Spirit: For displays that engage, inspire, or bring neighbors together.

Best Business Display: For the local business that demonstrates outstanding creativity and patriotic spirit in its storefront or property décor.

Winners and honorable mentions in each category will be recognized at the July 2 festival at Pineway Ponds Park.

With the Town coming alive in red, white, and blue, the contest offers Ogden residents a festive and creative way to mark this historic milestone while bringing the community together in celebration.

Interested residents and businesses can enter the contest by emailing cb*****@*****ny.com and Hi*******@*****ny.com with their name and address. Participants should also indicate whether they are comfortable with the Town posting photos of their display on social media. The deadline to enter is June 1, 2026, at 4:00 p.m.
