SUMMARY:Ogden/Spencerport Patriot Remembrances
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday, July 19, the Town of Ogden and Son’s of the American Revolution, will hold a remembrance ceremony in recognition of two patriots from the American Revolution, Patriot Abraham Morell and Patriot Joseph Pedrick, at Maple Grove Cemetery.\nAbraham Morell (1756–1845) was a Revolutionary War veteran who served in the New Hampshire militia and fought at Fort Ticonderoga, Bennington, and Rhode Island. He later became a civic leader in Danville, Vermont, serving as town clerk, justice of the peace, and legislator, before retiring to Ogden, NY between 1820–1830. He and his wife, Sarah Hoyt, had 11 children.\nJoseph Pedrick (1766–1854) enlisted in the 2nd New Hampshire Regiment shortly after turning 15 and served until 1783. He fought at Yorktown and participated in the assault on Redoubt 10. A farmer by trade, he moved to Ogden around 1840–1845, where his family became connected to the Scribner and Colby families.\nThis ceremony is part of a larger effort to recognize nine local patriots who served during the American Revolution. Village of Spencerport Historian Virginia Parker has played a key role in uncovering these individuals’ stories, with support from the Sons of the American Revolution, and Town of Ogden Historian Jesse Diehl.\nThis is the first of five ceremonies planned in the lead-up to the nation’s Semiquincentennial in 2026, marking 250 years since the founding of the United States. The next ceremony, following the July 19th event, is scheduled for September 20th at Locust Grove Cemetery in Adams Basin, followed by a march to Shaffer Cemetery.\n
